Within recent weeks, Wildlife Veterinarian for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Walt Cottrell, has made an announcement concerning the possible ban of deer urines for use as an attractant when deer hunting. The consideration of the ban comes from an opinion that Chronic Waste Disease can be spread by hunters who use deer urines during their hunt. Chronic Waste Disease is a fatal disease of the nervous system that causes wasting of the body and decreases lifespan in deer in which no known case has been found in Pennsylvania. When the truth be told, there are no hard facts that support that CWD is spread through the use of deer urines.
